Resolutions for Big Wins

Resolutions for Big Wins

This time last year, I had a thoughtful conversation with one of our amazing clients, Beth Fynbo, the visionary behind Busy Baby, LLC. Beth had shared her insights, which serve as valuable reminders for this time of the year. Over a relatively short span of time, Beth has transformed her business from a mere concept into a thriving 7-figure venture, making her a respected authority in the field.

She hit on the importance of both celebrating achievements and setting resolutions to drive progress, which I feel is an important piece of surviving Q4 and preparing for the upcoming Q1.

Why Celebrate Your Wins?

As we approach the dawn of 2024, it’s natural to get caught up in the anticipation of future plans and projects. The allure of setting goals and targets can sometimes overshadow the importance of reflecting on our past accomplishments. But why should we make the effort to celebrate our successes?

Above all, celebrating offers a valuable dose of perspective. As business owners, we often find ourselves preoccupied with challenges and obstacles that follow us even outside the workplace. When our conversations primarily revolve around problems, inadvertently, we end up painting a rather gloomy picture.

Undoubtedly, problem-solving is a defining trait of an entrepreneur, but constantly fixating on issues can lead to burnout. I’ve had countless conversations with individuals who confess to resenting their businesses, feeling as if they’ve inadvertently created an insurmountable beast. Beth tackled this head-on and shared, “I can’t stress enough how pivotal our year-end celebration was for us. We were at the brink of burnout, and the act of celebrating breathed new life into our endeavor.”

Occasional celebrations serve as a vital lifeline to prevent ourselves and our loved ones from associating our business journey solely with hardship and dread. It’s essential to identify our victories and commemorate them, involving our families in the jubilation.

What Can We Learn from Our Triumphs?

Looking back also presents us with a priceless opportunity to distill lessons from the year’s experiences. This isn’t restricted to the aftermath of overcoming adversity; valuable lessons often stem from successful endeavors.

It’s all too easy to forget the insights we’ve gained when fresh opportunities beckon. Without reflection, those “Eureka!” moments quickly lose their luster. Take a brief pause to reflect and weave these newfound lessons into your operational fabric.

Go ahead, invest just 5 minutes at this moment. I understand your days are brimming with activity, but those challenges can afford to wait. Quickly jot down a few victories from the past year. What achievements fill you with pride, and what knowledge did you extract from those accomplishments?

How can this newfound wisdom positively influence both your business and personal life, and what measures can you implement to perpetuate this cycle of improvement? Finally, share these insights with your family and ensure that learning becomes an integral part of your modus operandi.

Resolutions as Motivational Tools

The tradition of making New Year’s resolutions is a well-known one. In the business realm, we often refer to them as goals. Beth candidly admitted that this time of the year initially leaves her feeling somewhat uneasy, burdened by the pressure to outdo the previous year’s achievements, or at the very least, match them. However, as the year unfolds, her confidence in these objectives and her progress towards them blossoms.

Beth’s business continues to evolve, and each passing year ushers in fresh challenges and opportunities. She opts for audacious goals that compel her to venture beyond her comfort zone and stoke the fires of motivation.

It’s perfectly acceptable if grandiose, daring objectives don’t necessarily resonate with you in the same way. Incremental progress throughout the year can be just as gratifying as momentous leaps, provided they fuel your drive to act and chart a purposeful course for the year ahead.

As we step into 2024, consider making your first resolution an unwavering commitment to nurturing your passion for your business. Celebrate your victories, guard against the perils of burnout, and sculpt a business that truly aligns with your vision.
